http://nogreentax.ning.com , have your say, start a movement, we have a chance at getting exemptions for good, green initiatives related to USED goods NOW. A historic moment.
I consider Sales Taxes on used goods an evil blight on the entire system. It's as ANTI-GREEN as you can get (so it feels kinda personal, sheesh).
We, in Canada, are in midst of instituting a new HST (harmonized sales tax) system, and have a great opportunity to highlight the fact that antiques, vintage, salvage and USED goods should be exempt from sales taxes, cross-country.
This applies to the U.S. as well, but not familiar with your tax systems, so i'll leave that to US based biz.

We're trying to set up a group to contact and create a lobby for an exemption for used goods from this new, and old, sales taxes. Cross benefit is exposure for antiques as GREEN as well.
If anyone can join in to voice an opinion, or to help organize, please do so now.
The group is wide open, and accepting co-admins for help in organizing and making this group effective.
Please help, even if only by joining to voice an opinion on the subject.
It would be nice to direct tweets, updates, linkages directly to our local and national politicians here from an active and well-informed group. Could go a long way.
Best scenario, promotion of antiques among green product listings, and an exemption from taxes... worst case scenario: promotion of antiques among green products.
I consider it a win-win.
cheers.
vince.
